The Policy Research Institute of the University of Wolverhampton are holding a Conference called: 'Working Together for Safety?' and the event is being supported by the Government Office of the West Midlands and the Social Policy Association. The Conference will look at recent research in the region and draw lessons from the wider UK context. The Conference is aimed at all those involved, or with an interest in, issues concerning Communities and their Safety within the UK context, providing not only a forum within which to learn lessons from past experiences but also to share these experiences across sectors. The purpose is therefore to provide a forum for the frank and constructive exchange of ideas between groups. In turn, this exchange will focus upon the exploration of identified best practice in relation to engaging with communities by examining a variety of case studies drawn from the local, regional and national experience, thus reflecting the complexity and diversity of the issues surrounding Community Safety within the UK. The following workshops will be available during either a morning or afternoon slot: -Domestic Violence Perpetrators Programmes -Substance Misuse -Community Safety and Data -Childrens Fund - Social Order -Sharing Good Practice -Vulnerable Children and Young Poeple -Anti Social Behaviour -Homelessness - the Front Door Project -Adult Protection -Specialist Domestic Violence Courts The event will be hosted at Wolverhampton Science Park on the 15th June 2005.
