medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture "The glory of the olives". It was conjectured a while back that it could be a Cardinal who was a Benedictine (also known as Olivetans in some contexts). Or maybe he will call himself Pope Benedict. Or that it might be someone associated with the Jews - who are also, aparrently, associated with the olive (can someone explain this association? Is it something to do with olive oil in Jewish lamps?). Some people of prophetic bent say this means the now reitred Cardinal Lustiger of Paris. Or it could just be someone whose family made it big with olives at some point in the past, which could be made to apply to almost anyone from the Mediterranean I would imagine...
