Gerhard Fuchs is
Associate Professor at the University
of Graz and a researcher
at its Franz Nabl Institute for Literary Studies. He is a specialist in
contemporary Austrian literature and in Styrian writing in particular. His
publications include a volume on the novels of Helmut Eisendles entitled Leben im Kopf (1985) as well as articles
on Peter Handke, Elfriede Jelinek, Peter Turrini, and Gerhard Roth. He is
co-editor of the casebooks on H.C. Artmann, Hans Lebert, and Martin Schwab.
Among his other interests are literature during National Socialism (his essay
'Profiteure, Verfolgte, Verbotene. Dichter und Dichtung von 1938-1945' appeared
in 1998), and the reception of Büchner and Grillparzer in that period.
