There seems to be more and more talk nowadays about industrial action about
the pension income cut, although I must admit I am hearing it mostly from
non-ED consultants. They, however, find the latter fact stranger than I do.
They point out that:
1. ED consultants are generally younger and with more years ahead of them
they'll be worse off than other specialists with the new pension proposed
2. ED consultants have no private practice to rely on to augment pay to
counter the effects of the huge drop in pension pay-outs
3. ED consultants are perceived by many to be likely to want earlier
retirement to avoid burn-out, especially with current changes in the NHS
With all these factors and others, they are surprised that I am not the most
vocal about these proposed pay cuts and/or industrial action.

Are any others on the list facing similar questions?
