medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Unhappily moved to 3 September by the "reform" of Vatican II to free up the
Lenten season. We had a long discussion last year regarding the Sept 3rd
date, which according to the Oxford Dictionary of Popes was his birth date,
a rather odd choice of dates; Jesus, Mary and John the Baptist being the
only others who come to mind with feasts marking this event.
