italian-studies: Scholarly discussions in any field of Italian studies

The Department of Italian at Warwick is launching new bursaries for MA and PhD students. 

MA bursaries are worth £1,000 and must be used towards the payment of tuition fees. In order to be considered for the award candidates must fulfil the following conditions:
-You must have been offered a place on the Birmingham-Warwick MA in Italian Studies: Culture and Communication. 
- If the place is conditional, you may apply for the scholarship but the award will be effective only if you fulfil the stated condition.

PhD Bursaries are worth £3000 per year for a maximum period of three years; bursaries must be used towards the payment of tuition fees. PhD projects should fall into one of the following areas of Italian Studies: 
- Italian literature and culture of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, including Dante (supervisors: Dr Carlo Caruso and Dr Simon Gilson)
- Eighteenth- and nineteenth-century Italian literature and cultural studies within a comparative framework (supervisors: Prof. Ann Caesar and Dr Carlo Caruso)
- Literary and cinematic representations of travel, migrancy and diaspora in the Italian context (supervisors: Dr Jenny Burns and Dr Loredana Polezzi)

Applicants for both MA and PhD scholarships must complete the Scholarship Application Form: (http://www2.warwick.ac.uk/fac/arts/italian/pgfunding/applicationform/)
This can be returned together with the standard Warwick MA or PhD Application Form (https://secure.admin.warwick.ac.uk/cgi-bin-pgapplications/form), if this has not already been submitted. All applications must be submitted to the Department no later than May 31st 2005. Where applicable, candidates may also be asked to apply for relevant external funding.
