Hi

The book I find useful in classifying papers is Making Sesne of Critical
Appraisal by Olajide Ajetunmobi. Published by Arnold ISBN 0340808128 -
£17.99
That and the BMJ Books How to Read a Paper give you some examples of
classifying papers

For qualitative Papers the National Centre for Social Research with the
Cabinet Office produced a detailed review of how to assess evidence in
qualitative research. This is available from the cabinet office website.

Dear Colleagues,

I am seeking some advice please.

1. I am to assist with a journal club to critically appraise articles. I
want advice on classifying article type eg etiology, therapy, diagnosis etc.

Sometimes it is straightforward, sometimes not.

The article I am looking at is;

Solomon SD et al. Cardiovascular Risk Associated with Celecoxib in a
Clinical Trail for Colorectal Adenoma Prevention.
NEJM: 2005, Feb. 15, 352 ePublication

http://content.nejm.org/cgi/content/abstract/NEJMoa050405v1

If anyone can advise me on this article and guidelines for future articles I
would appreciate it.

2. Also, does anyone have a favourite CASP website with Worksheets and
background information to use during the process.

Many thanks

sheelagh
