Apologies for cross-posting
---------------------------

Colleagues,

ALT's Further Education Advisory Committee (FEAC), which is chaired by
Cathy Ellis from Brooklands College, is seeking to expand by between 5
and 7 new members.

The primary purpose of FEAC is to help align ALT’s strategic direction
and activities to encompass the FE sector - broadly defined to include
Adult and Community Learning, and Work-based Learning.

Members of ALT Committees must be individual members of ALT, and must
join ALT as individuals on appointment to an ALT committee, if not
already members.

FEAC meets three times per year. Dates of meetings are fixed to
accomodate maximum attendance by members, rather than set as a fait
accompli.

Two meetings are held from ~11.00 - ~15.00 usually in Birmingham, which
can be accessed reasonably conveniently from all over the UK. One
meeting is held by telephone conference, and lasts around 1.5 hours.

The next meeting of FEAC - a face-to-face one will take place in May or
June 2005. The date has not yet been fixed.

Travelling and subsistence expenses are paid if claimed.

Membership of ALT committees is normally for a period of 3 years, with a
rolling process of replacement. Thus around one third of members are
replaced each year.

Appointment to FEAC is governed by "Determing the membership of ALT
committees", which can be downloaded from here:
  http://www.alt.ac.uk/docs/Membership_of_ALT_Comm_20040623_Final_NoSR.pdf

If you would like to be considered for membership, please email a brief
expression of interest using the headings below, to Seb Schmoller -
[log in to unmask] - by no later than 24/3/2005. The best way to
do this is by forwarding this email back to me, with the introductory
rubric deleted, and the gaps below filled in. Please ensure a meaningful
subject line.

Many thanks.

Seb Schmoller
ALT Executive Secretary
