Gordon CHAIR OF URBAN GEOGRAPHY School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences The University of Birmingham Applications are invited for a Chair within the School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences, to provide leadership and to further develop the highly successful Urban Geography activity. The post arises from the retirement of Professor Jeremy Whitehand. The successful applicant will respond to the evolving nature of urban geography research, particularly in the context of the modern and post-modern city in developed economies. The successful applicant will have an international profile and a demonstrable record of high achievement in an area of urban geography relevant to the activities of the School. The University is particularly interested to receive applications from those who work in the broad areas of urban planning and development, including urban regeneration, urban renewal and sustainable communities, spatial analysis and topology, spatial dynamics, urban landscape design and management or urban governance. Importantly the appointee will have the strategic vision and ability to further the School's research strategy and to establish internal and external collaborative links. High-level interpersonal skills and commitment to the delivery and development of high quality teaching are essential.
