Ever wondered about tracing European information but don't know where to start?
Not sure how to track free or fee based material or whether print or electronic is best?
Then this is the course for you!
By the end of the day, delegates will be familiar with how European information is
structured and how to begin to trace and identify appropriate resources. A wide range
of resources, which are either free or fee based, will be introduced.
The course will aim to:
The course presenters are Tracy Kent and Gerald Watkins at the University of
Birmingham.
Tracy Kent has been the Social Science Librarian at the University of Birmingham for
10 years with responsibility for providing research support across the Social Science
discipline. As we move into Europe this support has been extended to cover the
plethora of materials from the European Union - whether part of the legislative
process or via the different statistical houses - which has led to extensive subject
knowledge within this arena. Tracy has also recently set up her own reference
software training company to ensure adequate tracking of key documents located.
Gerald Watkins is currently Subject Librarian with responsibility for International
Relations and Political Science and European Studies at the University of
Birmingham. His background has been in providing an information service for UK,
European and International Governmental publications within the University of
Birmingham. Gerald has also had extensive experience in tracing statistical data,
both official and unofficial within the academic arena.
