Dear colleagues, I would like to bring to your attention the following forthcoming events to be held at the University of Birmingham: Wednesday 2nd March 2005, 5.15 p.m. (nb change of date) Michael Caesar (University of Birmingham) 'Risorgimento stars improvise for the nation: Giuseppe Regaldi and Giannina Milli, 1833-1867' venue: University of Birmingham, Lecture room 6, Muirhead Tower Wednesday 16 March 2005, 5.15 p.m. Professor Giorgio Pressburger 'Modern Hells' venue: University of Birmingham, Lecture room 6, Muirhead Tower Furthermore, the Leopardi Centre at Birmingham, part of the Department of Italian Studies, is pleased to announce two talks on Giacomo Leopardi by Dr. Christian Genetelli (University of Fribourg): Tuesday 1st March 2005: "Agonismi Leopardiani" 12.00 pm in Lecture Room 8, Muirhead Tower Thursday 3rd March 2005: "Leopardi e la testualità leggera" 2.00 pm in Lecture Room 3, Muirhead Tower Dr. Christian Genetelli lectures in Italian literature at the University of Fribourg (Switzerland). A specialist on Giacomo Leopardi, he has published numerous articles in journals and edited collections. His latest contributions are a co-edition of Leopardi's Appressamento della morte (2002) and the volume Incursioni leopardiane. Nei dintorni della "conversione letteraria" (2003).
