I have just recruited additional invigilators to our pool. I do not
interview individually but arrange for all applicants to come to a
briefing session during which all the rules, regulations, possible
problems etc etc are explained and we have a question and answer session
at the end. I have found from experience that invigilators choose us!
Once they understand the complexity of the job many do not take it
further which can waste valuable time if you have done individual
interviews. It is not always possible to detail the job description to
cover all eventualities.

Those interested are then appointed subject to the necessary police
checks, references and new immigration checks (HR undertakes this for me
- seems like lots of paper-work is now necessary).

This is the second time I have used this approach and it seems to work
really well.

Best of luck in whatever approach you use.

Subject: INVIGILATOR INTERVIEWS

Hello again.

Can I ask a further favour of you all. We are currently seeking to
recruit a "pool" of invigilators after a rash of retirements at the
college! We have had a fabulous response to our advert, and will be
holding interviews over 2 days. I wanted to know if any one would be
willing to share examples of questions you may use during interviews of
invigilators (it has been years since we have had to recruit!) and if
you incorporate a test for potential invigilators, what does this
involve.

Once again, thank you in anticipation of you help with this matter, I
look forward to reading your responses.
