Discover the gems of the North West Film Archive through Artifact

We are very pleased to announce a new addition to the Artifact service; - the facility to
search the collection of films at the North West Film Archive (NWFA) www.nwfa.mmu.ac.uk

To try this out for yourself - go to www.artifact.ac.uk and type in your search term in
the search box. The number of records for films on that topic will be presented above the
results from the Artifact catalogue. You are then just a couple of clicks away from being
able to email the film archive with the details of your request for a particular film.

The North West Film Archive (NWFA) is the professionally recognised public home for the
moving image heritage of the North West of England. Set up in 1977, the NWFA currently
holds over 30,000 reels of film and videotape, and grows annually. The collection includes
cinema newsreels, documentaries, educational films, travelogues, advertising and
promotional material, corporate videos and regional television programmes - alongside
hundreds of films shot by local families and enthusiasts. The North West is vividly
captured in both professional and amateur footage - a powerful record of modern urban
society in moving pictures.

Academic research and reference access to the collection (by appointment) is free to
staff and students at UK Further and Higher education institution, video loans can
sometimes be arranged (charges may apply). Please contact the North West Film Archive as
early as possible with your requirements.

Best regards
