Dear Emanuelle, there is a disarticulation scheme for Equus burchelli (should not differ too much from the donkey) in: Hill & Behrensmeyer 1984, Disarticulation patterns of some modern East African mammals, Paleobiology 10(3): 366-376. A somewhat different scheme is provided by Méniel 1992, Les sacrifice d'animaux chez les Gaulois, for the horse. the main difference: metapodials and phalanges ... do they appear as "natural" units? I recall some later taphonomic litterature, indicating that the disarticulation sequence may be affected by environment, predators, temperature(mummification),partial burial,... all the best Mag.Dr. Günther Karl Kunst VIAS Vienna Institute for Archaeological Science Interdisziplinäres Forschungsinstitut für Archäologie Inst.fuer Palaeontologie GEOZENTRUM University of Vienna Althanstr. 14, A-1090 Wien Austria Tel: +43-1-4277-22406 Fax. +43-1-4277-9535 Homepage: www.univie.ac.at/vias
