Just read your introduction to Podcasting. Some excellent ideas in there for possible uses. I had added a link to it into the article.

In your paper you mention the possibility of automatically converting articles to podcasts. I was wondering if you have come across this rss to podcast service: http://www.talkr.com Its actually not bad.

In response to the earlier post about texting, I would suggest that texting is the cornerstone of any student recruitment campaign these days. Certainly it is an excellent way of keeping an institution in the mind of a prospective student as he or she comes to make their final decision.

Hi Paul
Bizarre, nah, Podcasting is so last week :-)
A couple of Podcasts were created in advance of last week's Institutional Web Management Workshop - see
http://www.ukoln.ac.uk/web-focus/events/workshops/webmaster-2005/podcasts/
Note that the quality of the first 3 isn't very good (I agree with your comment of the importance of the production quality), but Adrian Stevenson's pub guide is very good (he used to be in the music business).
I also gave out an Introduction To Podcasting briefing sheet - see

http://www.ukoln.ac.uk/qa-focus/documents/briefings/briefing-83/ <http://www.ukoln.ac.uk/qa-focus/documents/briefings/briefing-83/>

It gives some scenarios for use of Podcasting - but I didn't cover student recruoitment. But I agree that this could be an important area.

Thanks for raising this sueggestion.

Brian

PS a colleague Derek Morrisson has been Podcasting for several months now - see

	Hi all,
a slightly bizarre question but hopefully it might spark some thought.

I guess this is really aimed at those on the list who work for Higher Education web sites.

With the competition to recruit students becoming ever more fierce I know that many universities are constantly looking for new ways to market to students. I was wondering if any of you had considered pod casting as an approach and if so whether you got as far as trying it. What do people think of the idea?

It strikes me that a higher education podcast aimed at prospective students could include hints and tips on university life, interviews with existing students and even demo tracks by local student bands. I imagine that would be very appealing.

Here are my more detailed thoughts on the subject: http://www.boagworld.com/archives/2005/07/the_opportuniti.html

Am I living in cloud cuckoo land here?

	Paul
