Gretchen Worden and Pat Gerstner Travel Awards 2006

The Medical Museums Association (MeMA) has established two travel awards, one in memory of Gretchen Worden and one to honor Pat Gerstner, to assist members to attend the 2006 MeMA Annual Meeting.  The annual meeting is held the day before the American Association for the History of Medicine meeting and will be held Thursday, May 4, 2006 in Halifax, Nova Scotia.  The travel awards of $ 250.00 each will not cover all of the costs associated with attending the meeting, but the amount should significantly assist professionals from museums with limited funds to attend the meeting.

To be eligible for the travel award, the applicant must have been a member of MeMA for at least a year before the meeting.  Their institution must provide no, or little, travel support.

To apply for the award, the applicant should submit a cover sheet with the applicant's name, institution, address, and one reference.  Three copies of the applicant's CV and a letter describing how attending the meeting would benefit the applicant should be attached.  The applicants will be judged on their reference's comments, letter, and CV.  Application packets must be submitted by January 15, 2006.  They can be sent to:

Jennifer K. Nieves, Archivist
Dittrick Medical History Center
Allen Memorial Medical Library
1100 Euclid Avenue
Cleveland, OH  44106-1714

Application packets may also be emailed to [log in to unmask] with the subject line of "Worden/Gerstner Awards."  The winner will be notified February 1, 2006.
