Two positions in Cognitive Neurology:

The Cognitive Neurology group (headed by Prof. Dr. med. Gereon R. Fink) 
at the Institute of Medicine (IME), Research Centre Jülich 
(http://www.fz-juelich.de/ime) invites applications for two full-time 
postdoctoral positions (salary level equivalent to BAT IIa) starting 
January 1st, 2006.

The research of the Cognitive Neurology group is focused on the 
development and implementation of novel behavioural, cognitive or 
pharmacological strategies for the treatment of cognitive deficits to 
improve the rehabilitation thereof. The Cognitive Neurology group 
intensively interacts with the Department of Neurology, Cognitive 
Neurology, of the University Hospital Aachen 
(www.neurologie.ukaachen.de) and the clinical research group DFG funded 
KFO 112 (“Normal and impaired mechanisms of attention and their 
therapeutic modulation”).

For post 1, applicants should hold an excellent degree in medicine or 
neuro-psychology/ neuroscience and should have a strong 
interdisciplinary interest in cognitive neuroscience. The holder of the 
post will be required to conduct neuropsychological as well as 
functional imaging studies with healthy control subjects and 
neurological patients investigating the neurobiological mechanisms 
underlying cognitive deficits like neglect, apraxia or aphasia.
Prior experience with functional imaging methods and data analyses with 
SPM (statistical parametric mapping) or clinical neuropsychology are 
expected.

For post 2, applicants should hold an excellent degree in physics or 
informatics and should have a strong interdisciplinary interest in 
cognitive neuroscience, especially in functional imaging methods like 
fMRI, PET and MEG.  Sound knowledge of programming (e.g. matlab) and of 
data analyses with SPM (statistical parametric mapping) is expected.
