A Research Associate in radiochemistry synthesis using short-lived isotopes

Located on beautiful Long Island 18 miles east of Manhattan, our facility belongs to one of the
largest health-care providers in New York metropolitan area. We are making a number of
radiotracers in a thriving PET imaging center conducting clinical and research studies in neurology,
oncology and cardiology. Our synthesis effort is supporting clinical research programs that are
recognized internationally in the study of disease mechanism and treatment efficacy of patients
with neurological and psychiatric disorders.

Work under supervision of the Chief of Radiochemistry to develop PET Radiopharmaceuticals
for research and clinical use. Basic knowledge of Chemistry and specialization in Organic
Chemistry is preferred. Experience in Radiochemistry is an added asset, but not a prerequisite.

Masters degree in Chemistry, preferably organic chemistry from a respected University.

2 years of experience in analytical procedures like NMR, IR, HPLC and other spectroscopic
procedures. Lab experience, particularly in the synthesis of organic molecules is necessary.
Must be able to follow directions carefully, maintain records and effectively communicate
observations.

Must be able to work in cooperation with the existing Cyclotron/Radiochemistry staff and be
willing to share responsibilities according to the need. Must have working knowledge of
computer software including word, excel and power point.

Fresh graduates are also welcome, provided if they have enough exposure to Organic synthesis
and the analytical procedures. Selected candidate will be trained at our site. Salary is competitive
with generous health and fringe benefits offered by the hospital system.
