Dear SPMers, on behalf of Stefan Vogt I am sending this announcement to the SPM-list: The following post may be of interest (see http://www.jobs.ac.uk/jobfiles/BJ608.html for more details). Please direct informal enquiries to Dr. Stefan Vogt on 01524- 594625, email: [log in to unmask] Applications are invited for a 3-year, full-time post of Research Assistant or Post-Doctoral Research Associate on a project entitled "Brain mechanisms of imitation learning: Restructuring and associative accounts". The project is funded by the Leverhulme Trust and involves a series of experiments using functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) techniques. The aim of the project is to test two neuroscientific hypotheses about the learning of complex hand actions from visual models, the restructuring hypothesis, and the associative account of imitation learning. The project is a joint effort by researchers at Lancaster, Liverpool, Manchester and Parma Universities. The postholder will be expected to help prepare the training procedures and stimulus presentation for five planned studies, will manage participant recruitment, will assist in running the studies at the Magnetic Resonance Image and Analysis Research Centre (MARIARC, Univ. of Liverpool), conduct the rating of video recordings and the preprocessing of the image data using SPM and FSL software, conduct standard group analyses, and contribute to the preparation of research reports, publications and conference presentations. The post requires a strong background in neuroscience or psychology, skills in experimental design, fMRI methodology and image analysis (or an interest in acquiring the latter), and the ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary group of neuroscientists and psychologists. -- ------------------------------------------- Dr. Afra Wohlschläger Klinikum rechts der Isar der TU München Neurologische Klinik und Poliklinik Möhlstr. 28 81675 München Tel.: +49-89-4140 4665 Fax.: +49-89-4140 4867 -------------------------------------------
