Dear SPM lists,

I have been working on VBM in order to get each hemispheric (rh/lh) GMV and
have come to know that there are two strategies using getSegmentVolumes.

The first strategy is to mask the all preprocessed images using masking
(rh/lh) images, followed by calculating hemispheric GMV using
getSegmentVolumes.

The second strategy (according to an expert's suggestion) is to mask the all
original images before preprocessing using masking (rh/lh) images, followed
by VBM preprocessing to get final results.

Which is more accurate? I myself am torn since I don't know the answer.
Under my impression, however, it looks like the simple masking method (the
first strategy) worked since a strong positive correlations existed between
each hemispheric GMV (rh/lh) calculated by VBM and other brain imaging tool.

Any suggestion or comments regarding this matter would be highly
appreciated.

Best,

Akemi
