RE: Rejected posting: FAO List Manager

I have forwarded this to the jiscmail helpline to ask for an explanation.

Subject: Rejected posting: FAO List Manager

Earlier today (around 16:20) I forwarded to the list a message
I had received from Prof Roy Poses announcing the formation of
his new Foundation for Integrity and Responsibility in Medicine
(FIRM).

I was puzzled that this did not appear on the list.

Later I received a message from Roy Poses that he had been sent
a rejection notice:

>Ted, I got this, but don't know what it means.

The *BODY* of the message I sent started:

>>Forwarding the following to the list, in case any readers
>>are interested.
>>
>>Best wishes to all,
>>Ted.
>>
>>-----FW: <[log in to unmask]>-----

>>Date: Thu, 14 Jul 2005 10:27:21 -0400
>>From: "Roy M. Poses MD" <[log in to unmask]>
>>To: [long list of addressees snipped]
>>Subject: Announcing FIRM - the Foundation for Integrity and
>>Responsibility in Medicine

where I have inserted ">>" at the start of each line above (they
were not there in my original forwarded message). It seems clear
that the JISCMAIL LISTSERV for the RadStats list has read the
line in the *body* of the message beginning "From:" as being
the address of the sender, as opposed to the "From:" and "Reply-To:"
lines in the headers (which I have verified) which correctly pointed
to me.

This is unacceptable behaviour on the part of the LISTSERV, so
please can this information be forwarded to whoever is responsible
for configuring it?

With thanks,
Ted.
