Hi Folks,

The "Roy Meadow" case is coming before the GMC this week.
According to a Guardian storythis morning:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/child/story/0,7369,1510066,00.html

  "...
   The case against Prof Meadow at the GMC will look only
   at the statistical evidence he gave during the Clark trial.

   It will focus on whether he should have known that the
   statistics were inaccurate and whether using them in the
   way he did was misleading and caused harm.

   It will look only at his behaviour as an expert witness
   and is not concerned with his practice as a paediatrician."

This is as it should be, of course, though no doubt it should
be brought out by what process RM came to hold the views he did.

It should be interesting to follow! However, while the listing
of cases coming before the GMC is readily accessible at

  http://www.gmcpressoffice.org.uk

the GMC website itself (where any proceedings of such an inquiry
may be expected to appear) has been inaccessible for several days:

  http://www.gmc-uk.org

(I've also been trying to view details of the ongoing Dick van Velzen
case since the middle of last week. Some details have been published
in the Press, but attempts to go to the horse's mouth have failed!)

GMC News, press releases, etc. can be found at

  http://www.gmcpressoffice.org.uk/apps/news/

where you can find the Meadow case listed under

  News
    -> Recent Press Releases

and

  News
    -> Events Calendar

and this site does work!

But I'd be interested to learn if anyone alse on the list has
managed to access the GMC (gmc-uk) website itself.

Best wishes to all,
Ted.
