Although maternity statistics are my specialist area, I have found this 'debate' very frustrating as I simply don't have the time that some people have have to read and send long emails during the day. At the same time, I think the usefulness of the debate has been severely limited because others with knowledge of the subject also have only had time to make one or two very informative contributions in between the much more lengthy contributions from others. Operative delivery rates by mother's age over the years can be found in page A7.21.1 of 'Birth counts: statistics of pregnancy and childbirth' by Alison Macfarlane and Miranda Mugford. Publication details are cited in the bulletin. They weren't included in this year's bulletin. If you are particularly interested in having them, ring or email Lesz Lancucki whose contact details are in the bulletin.
