Job Description 

Title: Events Co-ordinator (Maternity Cover)

Full time January - September 2006

c£19k pro rata

Reporting to: Head of Public Programmes

Purpose To assist in the organisation of events in Science Oxford, an exciting new cultural centre for science which has just opened and is the new home of The Oxford Trust.

Main responsibilities

	1.	To work with the Head of Public Programmes regular programmes of events for "Whats-On"

			*	Contacting and booking speakers, performers, exhibitors.
			*	Liaising with them re AV needs, travel, fees and accommodation where appropriate.
			*	Assist in organising of events including necessary staffing, catering, ticketing, seating, staging and opening and locking up.

	2.	Take an active role in the day to day running of The Information Centre in Science Oxford

			*	Staffing the information desk when necessary
			*	Answering queries and selling tickets for events
			*	Ensuring it is stocked up with recent and relevant information about local science events.


	3.	Marketing of What's On at SO and other events

			*	Write and follow-up press releases for public events at SO.
			*	Liaise with photographers and reporters
			*	Assist in producing a regular calendar of events and exhibitions at SO and PEST activities delivered by our partners
			*	Providing text about events for e-newsletters
			*	Keeping up with events, festivals organised by partners and others in the area.


	4.	To assist with other TOT initiatives and events where appropriate.
