Templeton-Cambridge Journalism Fellowships in Science and Religion
Deadline: Dec. 15
The Templeton Foundation has announced an annual fellowship program that will enable 10 print, broadcast or online journalists to pursue an intensive two-month course of study in issues of science-and-religion. The fellowship includes three weeks of seminars at the University of Cambridge, a $15,000 stipend, a book allowance and travel expenses.
The fellowship seeks to promote a deeper understanding and a more informed public discussion of the creative interface of science and religion. During the term of fellowship, journalists will have time for independent, private study as well as access to renowned thinkers in an extraordinary intellectual and cultural setting. Potential areas of study include comparison of the methods of science and religion, cosmology, neuroscience, genetic engineering and spirituality and health. Fellows will be encouraged to write and publish news stories, editorial pieces or magazine articles at the end of the program.
Applicants must demonstrate an interest in the field, originality of thought displayed in previous writings and a superior record of journalistic achievement. The awards are open to journalists, writers and editors, including freelancers, with a minimum of three years of experience; priority will be given to mid-career and senior journalists.
