Tuesday 8th November 2005 from 2pm – 7pm
At-Bristol Science Centre

Returning to a SET career is still not an easy option. There are still many barriers to a successful return, and many questions to be answered
WHY ATTEND?
The aims of this seminar are to look at the practicalities and reality of returning to a SET career. What is actually being done already to facilitate returners? what needs to be done in the future? There will be examples of good practice and current schemes. It is hoped to attract a wide range of experience in relevant areas, allowing for audience participation, debate and discussion. This is the second in a series of three seminars that will be looking at all the issues involved. The Daphne Jackson Trust will be publishing the findings in a report in 2006 which will help instigate change and move the agenda forward to a position where scientists are no longer disadvantaged by taking a career break.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
The subject demands attention. It is vital that representatives across all sectors who employ SET professionals, support SET careers and fund SET research voice their opinions and concerns. We need representatives from:
• The Daphne Jackson Trust, its Fellows and Sponsors
• SET professionals who have already returned to careers
• Potential returners
• The scientific community
• Industry
• Research Councils
• Learned Societies
• Professional Institutions
• Training providers
• Women’s Groups
• Business Associations
• Employers
• Policy Makers
• Key opinion formers and decision makers in the SET arena.
If you have an opinion and want the chance to have your say....
then come along and help influence the future for returners.
