Science Projects Officer 

Full time Maternity Cover from June - December 2005

£18-20k pro rata

Closing Date 28th April 2005

Purpose:
 To manage the Science and Engineering Ambassadors Programme in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire and assist with other education and public engagement activities of The Oxford Trust. The Oxford Trust is the SETPOINT for Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire.

Main Responsibilities

Manage Science and Engineering Ambassadors Scheme (SEAs)
        *       Recruitment of Ambassadors
        *       Organising and running training sessions for Ambassadors
        *       Matching requests from schools with suitable SEAs
        *       Supporting SEAs with regular information including regular emails / letters.
        *       Liaise with administration assistant over SEAs registration & CRB checks.
        *       Liaise with national SEAs manager at SETNET.
        *       Work on other projects which develop activities with scientists for schools and other audiences.

Support outreach in schools
        *       Assist with outreach to secondary schools
        *       Support in Curioxity and with primary workshops as required.

Support our public engagement programme

        *       Develop mass experiments suitable for public participation which feed on to our website.
        *       Assist with the delivery and planning of Family Science Events.
        *       Provide support and ideas for organisations in the area without a track record of science events.

It is necessary for the Education Project Officer to hold a valid UK driving licence and have access to use of a car in order to fulfil the duties of the position. The job is based in Oxford.
