I read Jon Ronson's articles when they printed them. I hope that
eventually the stink from Guantanamo becomes overpowering, and that
our future history (if you see what I mean) will be such that it is
remembered in infamy rather than accepted as necessary or overshadowed
by worse things to come.

I still think that the proponents of "psychological methods" must
believe somehow that what they are doing is not torture, and that
justice will be best served by causing them to recognise that it is,
and that they themselves are torturers.

I was interested the other day to hear Gitta Sereny, a civilised
person, explaining why she turned down the chance to interview Fred
West. "I thought he should die," she said. "I thought he should die".
