I would think that it depends on the rules and regulations of the pension scheme involved. I was not involved in providing reports and opinions on ill health retirements until coming to my present post. The procedure now is that I would see the person concerned and would always obtain a GP or Specialists report. My company's pension scheme does not require them to be seen by an OH Physician, but the GP or Specialist's report must state in it that they support ill health retirement. I have always been under the impression that this had to be done by an OH physician, I wonder if anyone could confirm this. Also does anyone know if there is a specific pro forma for report writing specifically for such a case, ie for writing a report to a Pension Scheme. Thanks in advance, Catriona ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Please remove this footer before replying.
