This month's theme: Semantic City

London's infrastructures transfer electricity, water, goods, people,
money, sewage and information. Underneath the visible
environment of bricks, glass and steel, these infrastructures
determine how the city is used and imagined, and how the character
of its different localities emerges. Whereas many of these services
are provided by governmental or commercial interests, information
is often transmitted by peer networks: Speakers Corner, tags
and graffiti on the underground, stickers on every remaining
smooth-surfaced lamppost, and free wireless networks. This
month's theme addresses how information moves through the city,
how it can create new interpretations and feed back into
restructuring the physical environment.
