Brief description of the topic:

The aim of this special issue (http://www.elsevier.com/wps/find/S03.cws_home/cor7) of Computers & Operations Research is to collect original, high-quality submissions that address operations research aspects of real-time supply chain management. The emphasis is on the search for solutions by means of suitable models and computer-based decision making methodologies and techniques. The problems can contain input data depending explicitly on time (e.g. a dynamic environment) or data can be revealed during the operational interval (e.g. a stochastic environment). In such environments, data are known or are updated concurrently with the generation of the solution. Topics of interest include all aspects and phases of real-time supply chain management, such as:

  • Real-time vehicle routing and transportation
  • Real-time production planning and control
  • Real-time production/project scheduling
  • Real-time staff scheduling or timetabling
  • Dynamic pricing
  • Dynamic facility location problems
