PRM has a curator/researcher and a clerical opposite number to me; COMPAS I think doesn't have a library as such. My understanding is that the University pays a number of departmental librarians on clerical grades, though its website does not give this impression. If you have a training role maybe you could emphasise this more, or if you have an external training role (say with a CILIP group) try to get this across. I would far rather be in AUT than Unison, though I have had good help from them, but am not allowed to join.
