I read those that are relevant to me, ie. professional information product/service information.  This discussion was triggered by the inclusion in a CILIP mailing of an advert for a very different type of product.  Both sorts of advertising will have helped to subsidise the membership fee.

Your discussion has intrigued me. I used to put inserts in librarians' magazines but now I talk directly to librarians. Are inserts about product information read by librarians at all?
