Hello Kerry I did a review last year and took the line you are suggesting, particularly for the very expensive titles. However the library committee decided that they wanted to see cost per use, which was a very interesting exercise. As a result we cancelled several titles that were costing £100+ each time anyone looked at them. There is no infallible way of collection use stats. and it seems to be very dependent on particular clinicians subject interest of the moment. But that was how the committee wanted to proceed and there has been no negative feedback to the cancellations. However, there are some very expensive journals which also have electronic access and it is very tempting to cut some of these titles. I would be glad to hear any advice/views about this issue.
