Information Specialist
£30,667 (inc London Weighting)
We are looking for an enthusiastic information
specialist/librarian to join the Knowledge team at the BMJ Publishing Group.
This post will be to work on a number of BMJ products. These include Clinical
Evidence - a compendium of the best available research findings on common
and important clinical questions and BestTreatments – a website of evidence
based patient information.
Role and responsibilities:
This role includes
· Literature
searching according to Clinical Evidence/BestTreatments Procedures
· Critical
appraisal
· Data
checking
· Liasing
with Clinical Evidence/BestTreatments authors and editors
· Ordering
research papers
Qualifications and Experience:
The ideal candidate will have:
· a
postgraduate qualification in library or information science
· at
least two years experience in a biomedical library or similar environment
· skilled
in searching Medline, Embase, Cochrane and other databases
· a
keen interest in evidence-based medicine
· be
numerate and computer literate
· familiarity
with the medical literature is essential, as critical appraisal is an important
aspect of the role
Personal Qualities
The successful applicant will be a good communicator
and be able to prioritise and work accurately under pressure in order to
keep up with publishing deadlines. Clinical Evidence and BestTreatments
are evolving products, so flexibility within a team environment is important.
