As far as I can see - Blackwells Synergy is an Athens Compliant service - so you should be able to affix your Blackwells Synergy subscriptions to your nhs Athens organisation prefix. Not sure if you may get charged by Athens for this - probably £100 - but don't quote me on it... We have a subscription to the particular journal I'm trying to access, but I seem to go round in circles, being repeatedly told I need to buy the article/have an online subs. After numerous emails between me and their helpdesk, I am waiting for our IT dept. to come & see if they can sort it - seems to be an IP address/NHS firewall problem - , but we are not exactly top of their list of priorities - just wondered if anyone else had a) had the problem, and b) found a simple answer, while I 'm awaiting IT's attention.
