Dear all,

The following job advert appears in the current Library and Information Gazette and lisjobnet. Yes, it's a repeat, but just think of all the other great things that you've seen more than once - 'Fawlty Towers', 'The Sound of Music', that episode of 'Friends' that Channel 4 shows at least twice a week where Rachel finds out... As the post is available initially on a fixed-term contract, we'd be happy to consider applications from anyone interested in a secondment from their current position. So if you didn't look at it first time, it may be worth a first viewing...

Information Specialist, NLH Specialist Library for Surgery & Anaesthesia
£23,211 - £25,000 pa (Fixed-term contract to 31st October 2006 in the first instance)
Based at The Royal College of Surgeons of England, Central London

We are seeking an Information Specialist to help develop and manage the Specialist Library for Surgery and Anaesthesia within the National Library for Health environment (www.library.nhs.uk). You will be responsible for identifying, appraising, organising and disseminating special web-based knowledge collections for surgery and anaesthesia. The initial focus will be on the development of a methodology for setting up the library and identifying and organising resources using a central resource management system. The role involves working with partners and stakeholders from clinical practice and the information profession, and contributing to the national Specialist Libraries programme.

You will have a postgraduate qualification in Librarianship, Information Management or recognised equivalent, with at least two years' experience in information work, preferably in a health setting. You will need to combine excellent information skills - web-based searching and appraisal, cataloguing and classification, database use and management - with the ability to manage a project and to promote and share knowledge. Able to work independently within a team context, you can think innovatively while working to agreed standards, and can elicit and assimilate information and share in the development of good practice. And, as the Specialist Library is a product of a community of practice, you will have the confidence to work and engage with differing communities involved in its development. Some travel will be required to meet with partners and stakeholders and to attend NLH training, conferences and activities.

Benefits include 25 days' holiday and 4 college privilege days, flexitime, subsidised restaurant, in-house gym, squash court and contributory pension scheme.
Applications from candidates seeking a period of secondment from their employing body will be considered. Previous applicants need not re-apply.
