*Apologies for cross-posting* UC&RG East Midlands presents "different perspectives on induction" Wednesday 18th January 2006, 12:00 noon - 4:00 p.m. at the University of Lincoln. The event will start with registration and a buffet lunch in the new University Library. Then the first speaker, Evelyn Cornell, University of Leicester, will discuss the library induction at the University of Leicester. This will be followed by Lisa Warburton, Nottingham Trent University, who will discuss the new approach Nottingham Trent University has taken with this year's induction. Oonagh Capel, University of Lincoln, will then present a postgraduate distant learner perspective on induction. Ceri Laing, De Montfort University, will be talking about the audio tours that were used at induction at De Montfort University. Finally, there will be group discussions with other delegates finding out what they do, what they have learnt from the event and what they wish they could do! This event is suitable for both Higher and Further Education libraries and anyone who inducts new users to their library and learning resource centres. Places are limited - please book early to avoid disappointment. Closing date for bookings: 11th January 2006. Event fees include a buffet lunch and refreshments. The event will be held in the seminar room on level 1 of the University Library, University of Lincoln. There is full disabled access to the building. The University is located in the centre of Lincoln, close to the main roads. It is a 5 minute walk to the rail and bus stations. Public car parks are located a few minutes walk away.
