ELECTRONIC COPYRIGHT
5 April 2005, London (half day - afternoon)
This half-day workshop is intended to update participants' knowledge of current
copyright issues in relation to electronic information and will include issues relating to copyright and the Internet, deep linking and databases. The workshop also investigates
the impact of the implementation of the EU Copyright Directive.
BENEFITS FROM ATTENDING
By the end of the workshop participants will have a good understanding of the
problems caused by new technology. They will also have a clearer understanding of how
far new legislation addresses these problems. The new legislation will be discussed in
some depth and there will be an opportunity for participants to discuss any areas
that particularly concern them and to try to find practical solutions to any implementation problems.
WHO WILL BENEFIT FROM ATTENDING?
Anyone who is affected by copyright issues. The workshop is aimed at those who already have a good basic understanding of current copyright law.
WORKSHOP LEADER: PAUL PEDLEY
Paul is Head of Research at the Economist Intelligence Unit. He is a member of the
Libraries and Archives Copyright Alliance and on the Steering Group of the JISC Legal
Information Service. Paul has written five books, including "Essential law for information
professionals" by Facet Publishing. He has also edited "Managing Digital Rights" which is also published by Facet Publishing.
