OXFORD UNIVERSITY LIBRARY SERVICES BODLEIAN LIBRARY TECHNICAL SERVICES ASSISTANT LIBRARIAN, CATALOGUE SUPPORT SERVICES Academic Related Staff Grade 2: £23,182 £30,002 p.a. Applications are invited for an Assistant Librarian to work in Catalogue Support Services section of the Bodleian Library. Main tasks will include: training of library staff throughout the University in all aspects of automated cataloguing; creation of cataloguing documentation and training manuals; maintenance of the Oxford University union catalogue, its authority files and ancillary databases. The post-holder will also be expected to participate in the University cataloguing help-line and to liaise with other Oxford libraries as necessary. Applicants should have professional library qualifications or significant experience of automated cataloguing. Sound knowledge of bibliographical rules and standards (AACR2, MARC and Library of Congress Headings (LCSH) is essential. Experience in staff training and/or bibliographical instruction is important, as too are excellent communication skills. Advanced word processing skills essential.
