Cilip East of England  & Angles seminar 


 

Our annual seminar is taking place on the Wednesday 9th November at Shire Hall in Cambridge.  The theme this year is Portals and consortia, the day is intended as an introduction to web-based portals in the library and information community and the consortia of institutions that support them, with practical examples.  

 

Presentations will include: 

 

*	What is a portal?  An introduction.

           Andrew Cox, Research Student, Department of 

Information Science, Loughborough University.

 

*	Portal developments in the higher/further education sector. 

            Chris Awre, Integration Architect, e-services 

Integration Group, University of Hull.

 

*	The People's Network Services: Enquire and new developments. 

            Phil Purdy, Development Officer, 

People's Network Service, Museums, Libraries and

Archives Council (MLA).

 

*	The National Library for Health: an NHS based portal.

Ian McKinnell, Knowledge Manager, National Electronic Library for     Health.

 

The cost of the day is £23.50 to Angles and Cilip East of England branch members,  £35.25 to non-members.  This includes tea or coffee on arrival and a buffet lunch.
