We curently use Procite to collate our references for reports, an
internal database of useful items and NFER publications and are
considering changing to Reference Manager or Endnote.

I shall be grateful if lis-linkers could give their opinions on
Reference Manager, Endnote or other software so that we can begin the
review and evaluation process. At the moment all library staff use
Procite when finding information sources, maintaining a database of
useful information sources and recording our research outputs but only a
few of our research staff use it as licences are expensive and their
time is very busy. We are considering network licences so that as many
research staff as possible can use the software.

Key considerations are
*	Ease of exporting current data (about 12000 records) into the
new software with minimum loss/correction of data

*	Ease of citation style set up - we currently have a house style,
whilst similar to Harvard, has some differences which Procite cannot
deal with.

*	Dates - in Procite entering or retrieving dates in UK format
[ddmmyyy} is difficult. Procite seems only to like American formatted
dates

*	Pricing - current licensing arrangements are expensive.

I shall be grateful if you can comment on the points below. We would
also be interested in hearing if you are using such software for other
purposes. I would be happy to report back respondents comments via
lis-link

*	General usability. Such software is intended to make life easier
but most of our researchers are not familiar with using it as library
staff provide a specialist reference checking service. Training will be
required for research staff but it is not an immediate requirement.

*	Other known difficulties/problems - things that you have
difficulty doing or cannot do

*	Overall satisfaction - how satisfied are you with the software
