There are still places available on these two MARC21 training days - 
the Introductory course is on Monday 15 August; the Advanced on Tuesday 
16 August.  The course will be held in Glasgow (venue confirmation is 
imminent!)
Both courses are interactive and involve delegates in practical 
exercises.  They are not tied to any specific proprietary cataloguing 
system

*MARC21: An Introduction*
A basic guide to using MARC21 for cataloguing library materials

WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?
This course is intended for staff involved with cataloguing using
MARC21. It is particularly appropriate for libraries just starting to
use MARC21 or considering changing to MARC21

COURSE OBJECTIVES
At the end of the day delegates will

*be familiar with the provisions of MARC21
*be aware of those areas that differ from UKMARC
*know how to format the principal areas of a record
*have practised the application of MARC21 to real examples
*have considered the implications of changing to MARC21

*MARC21 Revisited*
This courses takes delegates further into cataloguing with MARC21.  It 
explores more complex concepts and looks at how to handle a wider range 
of bibliographical materials. Bookings for this course will close in a 
couple of days.

 WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?

This course is intended for cataloguers who have some experience of 
MARC21. It is very appropriate for delegates who have already attended 
our MARC21: An Introduction course.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

At the end of the day delegates will
       
*have reviewed the basic provisison of MARC21
*know how to handle serials using MARC21
*know how to handle mutli-volume items in MARC21ord
*have considered how to handle translations, multi-media, digitial and 
audio materials
*have examined the provision for authority records and holdings in 
MARC21

A Troubleshooting session is included in the day. Delegates are 
encouraged to contribute items for this session.
