A commitment to widening participation in formal and informal education,
with its implications for improvements in access, social inclusion and
lifelong learning, is high on the agenda of academic and public libraries.
There is a great deal that the two sectors can learn from each other here,
and much to be gained by collaborative working. This seminar invites
leading practitioners from public and academic libraries to explore
current initiatives in the field, the benefits of cross-sectoral
collaboration, and their implications for collection management. A
practical seminar which will explore how libraries of different kinds are
responding to the challenge of 24/7 provision and show how partnership
working is delivering benefits for all.
