The Museum of English Rural Life at the University of Reading has recently moved and will soon be opening its new library and archive reading room. We have the following vacancy (which will not be appearing in the CILIP Gazette) Reading Room Assistant Closing Date: 13/04/2005 Reference Number: C0524 Post Type: Part time, 24 hours per week (Tuesday-Friday 10am to 4.30pm, 30 minutes for lunch). Fixed Term, 12 months from end April 2005 Payscale: Clerical Grade 2, £11,960 to £13,953 p.a. pro rata The postholder will assist researchers in accessing the Museum’s library and archive collections and will undertake a variety of basic library and archive tasks. Applicants should have a good general education, and be familiar with library and archive materials and information sources. Previous experience of working in a museum, library or archive would be desirable, but is not essential. The successful candidate must demonstrate a commitment to customer service, have a flexible attitude, excellent communication skills, knowledge of IT and enjoy working as part of a team.
