Current changes in the communication of information are being driven by the
development of computing and telecommunications; further rapid evolution may
be expected to dominate the first decades of the 21st century.
Scientists, Publishers, Intermediaries and Libraries all play an active part
in facilitating the spread of knowledge at an unprecedented pace.

SCIENTISTS as both creators and consumers of STM information;

PUBLISHERS collecting, selecting, enhancing, packaging and distributing
information;

INTERMEDIARIES making use of new information and communication technologies
to produce, transport and deliver the physical or electronic packages;

LIBRARIES providing access to unprecedented amounts of information for their
clients

Everyone is trying to find the best way to offer information of the highest
quality at the lowest possible cost. Collaboration is key to long term
success and this conference offers a valuable forum for discussion and the
exchange of ideas.
