Dear all,

(Happy New Year and with apologies for cross-posting)

Here at the University of Warwick we are considering different ways to support students' learning activities. One area we are particularly concerned with is the provision of multiple copies of key set texts.

As it seems impossible to meet rising student numbers and demands for multiple copies, we would like to find out how other institutions have approached this issue.

* Do you have a policy (formal or otherwise) regarding the purchase of multiple copies? Are these by department or across the whole institution?
* If you don't purchase multiples, how do you meet student requirements?
* Alternately, if you do purchase multiple copies, do you still get requests for more copies?
* Have you directly surveyed student satisfaction with respect to multiple copies?

Any excerpts of formal or informal agreements relating to issue would be most welcome.

As ever, responses will be summarised for the list

With best wishes and many thanks

Gareth
