MAINSTREAMING EQUALITY - a CAREER DEVELOPMENT GROUP CONFERENCE 
University of Leicester, 14th November 2005

*	In need of a better understanding of standard equalities jargon and terminology?
*	Need an update on the main equalities issues for libraries, museums and archives?
*	Wondering how best to provide a truly inclusive service?
*	Looking for ways to involve minority groups in service planning?
*	Considering more targeted staff training?
*	Need to ensure your website complies with the Disability Discrimination Act?

This conference brings together a number of well known national and local speakers on equalities issues to consider ways in which to successfully identify, fulfil, and integrate the needs of all minority groups into overall service provision.

Speakers and topics include:

*	The challenge of fulfilling specific needs within an  integrated library service - Ayub Khan, Quality & Operations Manager, Warwickshire County Council
*	The cross-domain approach: what can libraries and museums learn from each other in this area? - Isobel Ashford, Access & Audience Development Officer, East Midlands Museums, Libraries & Archives Council
*	Understanding the needs of minority groups: an academic library perspective - Rachel Johnson & Sarah Kennedy, Information & Learning Services, University College Worcester

A range of practical workshops will be on offer in the afternoon. Delegates should choose TWO from the following list:

*	Workshop A: Integrating the needs of minority groups into service planning - John Pateman, Head of Libraries, Lincolnshire County Council
*	Workshop B: Identifying and fulfilling staff training needs - Kath Owen, Principal Librarian, Nottinghamshire County Council
*	Workshop C: Web accessibility issues - Richard Paltery, Team Librarian, Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead
