Ex Libris (UK) Ltd is seeking an enthusiastic information professional to
join its expanding MetaLib and SFX support team. 

THE COMPANY AND THE PRODUCTS:

Ex Libris is a leading worldwide developer of a suite of high performance
applications for libraries and information centres. 

MetaLib is a portal application, designed to assist libraries in promoting
and providing access to their online resources. Library users can locate A&I
databases, electronic journals, archives and catalogues that are relevant to
their area of research and then search these resources simultaneously in
MetaLib's uniform interface. MetaLib incorporates SFX, a link server that
fits into the OpenURL framework of context-sensitive reference linking for
libraries. SFX is also sold independently of MetaLib. 

Both MetaLib and SFX are web-based applications, installed on Unix servers
(located for the most part at customer sites). Oracle and MySQL are used as
the underlying database systems.

THE ROLE:

As a MetaLib/SFX Support Librarian you will provide front line support to
our growing UK customer base, composed primarily of academic libraries. You
will also support library customers from other selected European markets.
The Support Librarian will work closely with our UK project managers as well
as with second line support teams outside the UK. 

This position is a full-time role, and you will be working from our
Harefield office, located on the outskirts of West London. As this role is
based in the United Kingdom, applicants must be a UK citizen or have
authorisation to work in the UK.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

* Excellent communication skills
* Ability and enthusiasm for solving technical problems
* Self-motivation
* A willingness to learn new, complex software applications
* Knowledge of the electronic scholarly publishing industry - A&I databases,
e-journal/e-book providers, aggregators etc - either acquired through a
degree or equivalent work experience
* MS Office and Web skills
* Experience with UNIX (Solaris and/or Linux) and familiarity with Apache,
Oracle and MySQL is desirable but not essential
