Does anyone have any knowledge or experience of a pre-entry buddy or mentor scheme, whereby students with offers are given the name of an existing student they can contact prior to Fresher's week and enrolment?

The School of Social Sciences here at Nottingham Trent is investigating the possibility of setting up a scheme like this and would be grateful for any hints or tips you can offer.
